Why go

Munich drinkers argue about most things, but Augustiner Edelstoff tapped from a wooden barrel is close to a citywide consensus, and this is the classic place to drink it. The beer garden — first marked on a Munich city map in 1812 — seats about 5,000 people under more than a hundred chestnut trees, with a cheap self-service section beside the waited one. It sits ten minutes on foot from the Hauptbahnhof, which makes it the natural first or last stop of any Munich beer trip.
