Brauerei Fässla

Why go

Directly across the street from Spezial — the shortest brewery crawl in beer travel — Fässla has brewed since 1649 and shows the unsmoked side of Bamberg: Gold-Pils, Lager, Helles, the house Zwergla, and the Bambergator strong beer. The stand-up counter by the entrance is where the conversation happens, and the taps open at 8:30 in the morning Monday through Saturday, a very Franconian schedule. It is also one of the city's best beer-travel bases, with 26 simple guest rooms upstairs and the train station five minutes away.
