The Rake

A famously tiny bar at the edge of Borough Market, run by Richard Dinwoodie and Mike Hill, the founders of the Utobeer stall a minute's walk away. The formula has barely changed since it opened: a handful of sharply chosen draught lines, three real ales, and a fridge dense with imports, with American craft a house strength. Space is the point — a few dozen drinkers and a signed-wall of visiting brewers — so go early, drink something you cannot pronounce, and give up your stool gracefully.
